Hartland Loses Heartbreaker on Senior Night & Pink Out Night
Hartland loses to Walled Lake Northern, 52-55.
The Hartland Eagles lost a heartbreaker to Walled Lake Northern 55-52 in the KLAA Conference Championship game Friday night.
The large home crowd honored 27 senior players along with five cheerleaders and two members of the Pom Team. The game seemed like it basketball on grass as both teams put on an offensive show scoring 107 total points between them. wore pink socks.
Walled Lake Northern scored first on a 63 yard bomb on the second play of the game to take a quick 7-0 lead. The Knights kicked a 33 yard field goal at the 3:57 mark of the first quarter for a 10-0 lead. The Eagles came right back with a dazzling 47 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Stephen Milarch to Bryan Ridley. Alec Bain converted on the extra point for Hartland as the Eagles trailed 10-7.

The second quarter was a wide open display of big plays by both teams.  Hartland took their only lead of the game with just 40 seconds in the half on a great catch by wide receiver Brandon Gigliotti giving the Eagles a 21-20 lead. The Knights stormed back on a quick 4 play drive giving them a 28-21 half time lead.
The offensive explosion continued in the second half. Bryan Ridley caught a 47 yard touchdown pass late in third quarter for the Eagles. Trevor Sudbay scored from 2 yards out midway through the fourth quarter cutting the lead to 48-45. Quarterback Stephen Milarch hooked up with Austin Pierce on a 48 yard touchdown pass narrowing the lead to 55-52 with 4:30 left in the game.

Walled Lake Northern (6-2) ran out the clock for a 55-52 win handing the Eagles (7-1) their first loss of the year.
