VARSITY

As players and parents made their way to Huron Valley last night, many wondered if a storm would roll in and spoil the evening. A storm rolled in, but it was the Hartland women’s lacrosse team. Hartland came out strong and played an impressive game in both halves of the game.

Tabitha Ferguson was stellar between the pipes with 10 saves on the night. She stopped a lot of shots or made the defender shoot wide of the net. Her hands were quick and she repelled a lot of shots from hitting the back of the net.

The game was fast and the team was aggressive on the draw, winning many of the opportunities to gain control of the game. The defense swarmed Huron Valley’s ball carriers changing their direction and jumping in front of passes.

The offense was moving the ball up the field and around the scoring area with ease. Newly promoted freshman, Amy Longe, had a strong showing scoring three goals. Not only did the “new girl” score, Hartland produced seven different scorers on the night.

Ryan Skomial led all scorers with six goals and four assists. Haley Crouse came on strong with four goals. Amber Crouse, Taylor Pryde, Rachael Sharpe, and Rachel Gibbs rounded out the scoring by scoring one goal each. The offense is not one dimensional, and it consistently has shown multiple scorers at every game.

At the end of the night, some rain had fallen, but the score had erupted to a 17-11 win for Hartland.

The team will travel to Rockford for a tough three game set against some of the best competition the state has to offer. They will take on Rockford, Catholic Central, and Troy Athens.

JUNIOR VARSITY

The girls JV team had to wait a little longer than varsity to get back to the field, but they managed to pull out a win.  Although the game was tied at three in the first half, Hartland pulled away and kept Huron Valley subdued for an 8-5 win.  Kristina Hollis led all scorers with four goals and Annelise Kulpanowski followed with two goals. Junior Varsity plays this weekend in a tournament in Rockford against Catholic Central, Grosse Pointe South, and Rockford.
