Hartland Sports Round-Up

Wrestling and the boy's swim and dive teams both capture impressive wins this week.

Friday:

Wrestling: The Hartland team picked up wins over Howell (42-21) and Grand Blanc (60-10) at a double dual meet Wednesday at Hartland High School, according to an article from the Press & Argus. The team's division record after this week's wins is now 4-0. The Eagles take on Brighton next week. 

Boys Swimming: By taking first in every event, the boy's swim and dive team captured an impressive win over Pinkney on Thursday night with a score of 143-42, according to the Press & Argus.

Wednesday:

Girls Basketball: The Hartland girl's team racked up another win Tuesday night against Grand Blanc, according to the Press & Argus. Sophomore Mallory Slavin was the high scorer with 14 points and 10 rebounds which led to a 44-29 victory.

Other high scorers include Lindsay Pajot and Jaymie Dyer, each with eight points for the Eagles.

With their latest win, the lady Eagles stay tied with Brighton in the KLAA West.

Boys Basketball: Even with solid games by Nick Englehart and Stephen Milarch, each with 16 points, the Eagles were still unable to secure their first win against Grand Blanc Tuesday night. 

With a close score of 67-63, Hartland coach Frank Leppek told the Press & Argus that turn-overs were high in last nights game.

Hockey: With a loss of 8-4 against Howell, Hartland hockey fell to a 6-7-1 record, according to the Press & Argus.

Monday:

Boys Basketball: The boys team suffered a hard loss on Friday night against Milford after losing a six-point lead, according to the Press and Argus. With just two minutes left in the game, the Mavericks came from behind to steal the win with an end score of 33-30.

Leading scorers Tyler Leighton and Stephen Milarch each had eight points for Hartland.

Girls Basketball: The lady eagles came back for the win Friday night against Milford. The Press & Argus reports that senior Bailee Maggert scored 11 points which led to the 48-29 victory. 

Boys Swimming: The boys swim and dive team defeated rival Brighton on Thurs. night with a score of 108-78, according to the team website. Thursday's meet included two state cuts in the 200 Medley Relay by Bryan Condra, James Strandbergh, Trey Conner and Jacob Scherba. Conner also set a new Hartland pool record in the 100 meter butterfly event.

On Saturday, the team competed against Northville, Walled Lake Central and Canton. Hartland defeated the teams from Walled Lake Central and Canton, but fell short against Northville.

Freshman diver Jonas Zebari came in 2nd place with a score of 186.65.
