UPDATE: Hartland Wrestlers See Victories at Palace Friday

After winning just 4 of 10 matches Thursday, the Eagles are seeing early success during second day of competition.

Late Friday evening, sophomore Austin Eicher won a 7-2 decision over Brighton junior Jordan Amine.

The team also rebounded in its early consolation bouts on Friday morning.

The Eagles qualified 10 wrestlers to the state finals, but had a very up-and-down day on Thursday. They only won four of their 10 matches in the opening round.

"We had a couple of matches (yesterday) that we could of won," Hartland coach Todd Cheney said. "We had kind of a roller coaster kind of day. We just fell short in a couple."

Cheney said the venue played a part.

"A lot of our kids are here for the first time and The Palace can be kind of an intimidating place," he said.

Day two started off much better for the Eagles. Senior Matt Ostermiller made quick work of Roseville's John Potestato with a pin in the first round (189 pound). Brian Braun won a 5-2 decision in 215 pound bracket.
