- PLAYERS TO WATCH AND WHY: Junior Abby Haughie returns to play No. 1 singles again this year. Her leadership will be key as team lost 16 of 20 kids to graduation. Freshman Rachel Byron has stepped up to play No. 2 singles. "She really keeps her cool," Hartland coach Judy Jagdfeld said. "For a freshman, she's got a good, little baseliner. She's going to do nothing but improve." At No. 1 doubles, seniors Allison Beaver and Caitlin Distelrath also have experience.
- RECORDS: Team is 2-3 overall and 3-3 in the KLAA West so far this season. Last year, squad finished third in KLAA West, second in conference tournament and fifth in regionals.
- TEAM GOAL: To improve one set at a time.
- COACH: Judy Jagdfeld is in her 30th year coaching. This is her 60th team overall, as she coaches both the boys and girls.
- COACH QUOTE: "This team has a strong future," Jagdfeld said "I'll have most of them for the next two to three years."
- PLAYER QUOTE: "We have a whole new team with almost all new people," Haughie said. "They're all doing very good, though."
- WHAT'S SPECIAL ABOUT THIS TEAM: "I have 50 percent underclassmen," Jagdfeld said. "They're young, but very coachable. They're willing to learn and that's fun for me."
