Swimmer Qualifies for State Meet; Wrestling Finishes Third at Tourney; Hockey Loses in Holiday Finale

BOYS SWIMMING — Hartland grabbed a tie for seventh place as one of its swimmers qualified for the state meet Saturday at the Knight Invite in Toledo, OH, according to the team's website.

James Strandbergh, who made the state cut with a 1:02.81 in the preliminaries, was fourth in the in the 100-yard breast, said post from head coach Adam Wohl.

Trey Conner, who was fourth in the 100-yard butterfly, was about a second from qualifying as was the 200-yard medley team of Strandbergh, Conner, Bryan Condra and Scott Pelland, the post said.

The Eagles had three top eight finishes in a co-ed meet that Wohl said included multiple top squads from Ohio among the 28 teams. Hudson (OH) High School won the combined meet. (Hartland was 16th in the combined score without a girls team).

"It was a fantastic meet with many impressive swims," he wrote in the post. "It was a great way to finish the first quarter of the season as we head into our Christmas break training."

The team next travels to Ann Arbor Skyline for a 6 p.m. meet Tuesday that also includes Novi.

WRESTLING — Hartland took third Saturday at a tournament in Holland by defeating Allegan 46-27, according to the Holland Sentinel.

The Eagles were 4-1 during the tournament, according to mLive.

The loss came versus tournament winner St. Johns, which is ranked third in the nation and the tops in Division 2.

HOCKEY — Hartland lost 3-2 to Novi in the finals of a holiday tournament in Clarkston, according to @hartlandsports.

Ray Young and Brett Bandyk scored for the Eagles, now 2-2-1 on the season, according to an article in the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

Hartland next skates 7 p.m. Wednesday versus Waterford Mott at the .

Friday

GIRLS BASKETBALL — Hartland lost its first game of the season Friday to Waterford Mott at home 51-47, according to results posted by the Kensington Lakes Activities Association.

Coach Don Palmer said the Eagles came back from an early game 10-point deficit to take a fourth quarter lead, but could not hold on, according to an article in the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

Bailee Maggert's 22 points were a game high, the newspaper reported.

Hartland next plays 7 p.m. Tuesday at Carman-Ainsworth near Flint.

BOYS BASKETBALL — Hartland remains winless on the year after a 69-35 loss at Waterford Mott, according to results posted by the Kensington Lakes Activities Association.

The Eagles (0-3) next travel to Milan for a 7 p.m. game Tuesday.

HOCKEY — Hartland defeated Clarkston 3-2 to advance to the finals of a holiday tournament, according to @hartlandsports.

Thursday

CHARYL STOCKWELL BOYS AND GIRLS BASKETBALL — The boys and girls both won games over the Home Education Association on Thursday in Hartland, according to the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

The boys were in control of their game with a 54-24 victory while the girls eeked out a 39-37 win, the newspaper reported. CSA's Grace DeLorenzo scored a game-high 21.

Wednesday

COMPETITIVE CHEER — Hartand picked up its first win Wednesday for new coach Amanda Adkins with a win in the Kensingston Lakes Activities Association crossover quad at Lakeland.

The Eagles scored 705.1088 to defeat Northville's 637.2712, Lakeland's 605.1700 and Franklin 553.5420, according to results on the KLAA site. See PDF with this article for more.

Hartland — which ranked 10th in the state in Division 1 this week in a poll of coaches and officials — next competes Jan. 4 in a 6 p.m. quad at Milford High School.

BOYS AND GIRLS BOWLING — The girls team remains undefeated on the season with wins over Pinckney and South Lyon this week, according to coach Ron Heck.

The Eagles, now 3-0 on the season, defeated South Lyon 24-6 on Monday and Pinckney 19-11 on Wednesday, Heck said. Sam Moesta's 182 and 183 led Hartland in the South Lyon win while Heck said the win over the pirates was a "team victory."

The boys lost both matches to fall to 0-3.

Both squads will bowl 4:15 p.m. Friday at Brighton.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK — One from Hartland's wrestling, hockey and bowling squads were each named Fenton State Bank Athletes of the Week, according to @hartlandsports.

Wrestler Nate Hughes scored pins against Rochester and Greenville during two close matches last week that Hartland was able to pull out, according to results on Michigan Grappler. In addition, he took first place at 112 pounds at Saturday's tournament hosted by Hartland that the Eagles also won.

Ryan Daavetilla won for hockey after scoring a pair of shorthanded goals against Pinckney in what turned out to be a 5-5 tie, according to an article in the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

Tuesday

GIRLS BASKETBALL — Hartland remains unbeaten following a 39-21 win Tuesday at Lakeland, according to results posted on the Kensington Lakes Activities Association website that also includes standings.

Head coach Don Palmer said Lindsay Pajot, who led the team with 15 points, played one her best games of her high school career, according to an article in the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

The Eagles are now 3-0 and host Waterford Mott at 7 p.m. Friday.

BOYS BASKETBALL — Hartland lost 78-52 to Adrian in an away game Tuesday, according to results posted on the Kensington Lakes Activities Association website that also includes standings.

Head coach Frank Leppek said Adrian hit eight three-pointers, according to an article in the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

Stephen Milarch scored 13 and Grant Klopfenstein netted 12.

The loss drops the Eagles to 0-2 on the season. Hartland next plays 7 p.m. Friday at Waterford Mott.

CHARYL STOCKWELL BOYS AND GIRLS BASKETBALL — The girls won 32-14 but the boys 60-37 lost in games against Livingston Christian on Tuesday in Hartland, according to an article in the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

The win gives the prep academy girls team a 1-0 record on the season while the boys dropped to 0-2.
