Blizzard in July: DQ to Donate Thursday Sales to Area Children's Hospitals

On Thursday, participating Dairy Queen restaurants in Metro Detroit will donate proceeds from the sale of each Blizzard to Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

On Thursday, July 26, metro Detroit will be hit with a rare summer blizzard.

More specifically, it will be a day of Dairy Queen Blizzard treats to benefit area children.

For the sixth consecutive year, Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day invites people to come out to area stores and enjoy a cold, refreshing ice cream treat to raise funds for services and equipment for hospitalized children.

Participating Dairy Queens in Metro Detroit will donate proceeds from the sale of each Blizzard treat sold today to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Southeast Michigan’s representative, the Beaumont Children’s Hospital. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is a charity that raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada and ensures that when a donation is made, it stays in the local community, so that every dollar given goes to help local kids.

“With this year being the warmest on record, Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day is coming at a perfect time to help cool people down,” said Tom McGannon, associate vice president of the Beaumont Foundation. “We appreciate our DQ partners and their ongoing support to raise funds that help local kids through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.”

On Miracle Treat Day 2010, participating Dairy Queen locations throughout the United States and Canada raised $5.5 million for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in local communities. The Dairy Queen system is one of the top 10 contributors to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals having raised more than $92 million since 1984.

So, whether you choose the new Turtle Brownie Blizzard of the Month or any other flavor, you can do it for the kids. For more information about Miracle Treat Day including participating locations near you or the Dairy Queen system, visit MiracleTreatDay.com or DairyQueen.com.

Same here. We spent most of the day and evening on Saturday at the carnival. Kids had a blast withRead More the unlimited ride band and they were able to spent time with school friends before the summer off. I didn't see any problems, fights or anything else some people seemed to be worried about. The carnival even kept rides open after 11:00pm for those last few kids that wanted to get on one more time. Hope we can get something again in September or October.
