Possible Carnival on the Agenda for Hartland

The Hartland Chamber is proposing a carnival in Hartland on June 6-9.

Nothing says summer like a carnival and Hartland may soon be welcoming one of it's own to town.

On the agenda for Tuesday night's Hartland Board of Trustees meeting, The Hartland Chamber of Commerce, partnered with Elliott’s Amusements, is proposing a 4-day carnival, which could take place in the parking lot of the Shops at Waldenwoods.

According to the meeting agenda, the carnival would take place on June 6-9, lasting until 11 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 8 p.m. on Sunday.

The Hartland Area Chamber of Commerce has been considering a carnival venue for the area for some time, according to Executive Director Jana Warford, and originally had planned for an October 2013 date.

"But Elliott's Amusements had a cancellation for June 6-9, which is why we are all trying to make it happen quickly," Wardford said in an email to Hartland Patch. "Hartland Township, Waldenwoods Properties and Target has worked collaboratively with the Chamber to bring this event to Hartland.

"Most families love the fun rides, games, and food that carnivals bring when they come to town," she said. "Our hope is that when people come, they will also visit our wonderful businesses and community."

Warford said they have plans to start small, but hopes the carnival will grow over time.

The Hartland Planning Department is recommending that the Township Board approve the carnival with stipulations, according to Planning Director Dave Campbell.

"Particularly conditions outlined by the Hartland Deerfield Fire Marshal and compliance with any directives from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department," Campbell said in an email. “We are happy to work in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce to bring what we hope will become a summertime tradition to Hartland."
