Youth Running Program Races to Hartland

Registration for Great Road Racers is now open through Hartland Community Education.

A new summer youth running program sponsored by Hartland Community Education will be offered this summer for all Livingston County students entering fourth grade and higher.

The program mission of Great Road Racers (GRR), is to “promote running as a source of physical, mental, and social well-being while having a common interest in having
fun and staying fit,” according to program organizer and Hartland Middle School cross country and track coach Gerald Bliznick.

The summer program will also help prepare student runners for the upcoming MHSSA Cross County seasons as well.

“There is a niche for this younger runner program in Livingston County,” Bliznick wrote in an email to Patch. “Athletes will be introduced to Good Form Running (G.F.R.), which involves running with a cadence.”

Athletes will have the opportunity to participate in several types of distance runs and three or more mini cross-country meets.
