Post Surgery Abby Update
The power of prayer is amazing! Abby is doing good and her surgery went well! However, she still has a long road ahead of her, and prayers are still greatly needed. The Surgeons got everything out of the main vein, so no bypass or heart surgery of any kind was needed. All the tumors in the main vein were removed and sent to the pathologist, who said there were no viable tumors, which means, the chemo(and prayer!) are working! As of Tuesday, Abby was out of PICU and able to eat Cheerios and drink apple juice, according to her mother, “like She hadn’t eaten in a year!” She is now excited for Waffle Fries! Yet another reminder from a sweet little 6 year old to appreciate the little things in life! This coming Monday, Abby will then start Radiation for the area of the Wilms Tumor and for the spots in her lungs that did not go away from Chemo. She will have 6 Radiation Treatments, one a day for 5 days, then come back the following Monday for the last one. The Radiologist seems hopeful for a positive outcome, as the Wilms Tumor is very reactive to radiation. Abby and her family are so grateful for all the community support, thoughts and prayers. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers, especially this upcoming Holiday as we are gathered around the table and turkey with our loved ones, please say a prayer for Abby and her family.
