Anonymous Donor Helps Light Up Busy Corner in Hartland Village Area

Dozens of lights that adorn a 27-foot tall evergreen is now greeting visitors to the village area of Hartland at the corner of Crouse and Hartland roads thanks to an anonymous donor.

"It was very generous to do it," said Gary Cornillaud, a Hartland architect who owns the building on that corner that houses the and his office.

"(People) see it pretty quick — it adds a little Christmas spirit."

The donor, who is a member of the , volunteered when the issue of how to make the village area more festive came up during a recent community council meeting.

Holiday lights and wreaths that traditionally line Avon Street were installed the first week of the month and some hope the gesture will inspire others to add more to better showcase the historical area.

"It's a pleasure to give back to the community just as long as they enjoy the lights," said the person, whom requested anonymity because it's more about what was done rather than who.

In responding to this article shortly after it was published on Hartland Patch's Facebook page, some already have expressed their appreciation.

"My girls and I are loving this tree — my daughter figures it's my 'favorite' cause she knows purple is my color," said Jessica Carleton. "Thanks for lighting up the village."

Added Deborah McConnell: "Oh, don't ya just love it. People sharin' in the 'holiday spirit.' That is awesome. God bless 'em."
