Hartland Grad to Become Eagle Scout

Hartland's Boy Scout Troop 383 has announced that 2011 Hartland High School graduate James K. Walker will be honored with the rank of Eagle Scout.

Walker, a former member of Troop 383, built a retaining wall next to an observation deck at the high school, according to a news release. He also earned 31 merit badges, volunteered 117 hours, spent 108 nights camping and was a member of the Order of the Arrow, it said.

The 18-year-old, who is now attending Marine boot camp at Parris Island, SC, will be formally bestowed the rank in a 1 p.m. Dec. 10 invitation-only ceremony at the .

His parents, Jeff and Laura Walker, live in Tyrone Township. He also is the grandson of Warren and Sandy Butts, great-nephew of Colleen Ittner, and cousins of Mike and June Robishaw, all of St. Charles.
