Celebrating MLK Day Plus More Tips for the Week Ahead

Here are four tips to help fuel your week in Hartland.

It's Monday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in Hartland to help make your week a little brighter, easier and more fun. For a full list of things to do this week, look at the Patch calendar of events.

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Here are five ways to recognize the day.

2. At the library
Collector Mike Ewing brings his detailed scale models to Cromaine. View the planes up close and learn how engine and airframe designs progressed impacting the war. This event is part of Big Read 2014, preparing for the time of "The Great Gatsby" beginning on March 29. 

3. Register Now
This will be the first annual "Hartland Glow Run" to be held during the Hartland Relay for Life event. Proceeds are going to the American Cancer Society. There are several levels you can sign up for: 1) 1 Mile Go-Getter $10 - Sorry no T-Shirt. 2) 5K - Walk/Run $20 - T-Shirt included 3) 10K - Walk/Run $30 - T-Shirt included 4) 2 people - 10K - Walk/Run $50 - T-Shirts included 5) 4 people - 10K - Walk/Run $100- T-Shirts included. 

4. In the community
The Livingston County United Way is again accepting nominations for key community volunteers. Recipients will be announced at the United Way’s volunteer recognition breakfast in March. Nomination forms are due by January 24 and may be found by visiting the United Way website.
