1. Smokin' Jazz Festival

  • When: Sept. 6 and 7
  • Where: Downtown Brighton
  • What: A signature event for Brighton, the Smokin' Jazz Festival features talented musicians and food vendors smokin’ up the streets of Downtown Brighton.
2. Auditions for The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus
  • When: Sept. 7 at 9:30 a.m.
  • Where: Hartland Music Hall
  • What: Encore Youth Theater is holding auditions for The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. Doors open for registration at 9:00 am and registration closes at 9:30 am. All children aged 8-18 are encouraged to audition regardless of previous theater experience.
3. City of Nations
  • When: Sept. 6 at 6 p.m.
  • Where: Kahuna Coffee
  • What: Come listen to some great music; this band plays ambient rock with a blues influence.
4. Brighton's 9-11 Memorial 5K
  • When: Sept. 7 at 8 a.m.
  • Where: Downtown Brighton
  • What: The annual event supports the 9-11 memorial, a project that began with community fundraising efforts in 2011 when the fire department traveled to New York and "brought back a piece of history."
