If you want to dine in a crowded smoke filled resturant with mediocre steak that you have to cook yourself then this is your place. Service is terrible also.

We stopped in last night to watch the game. Great atmosphere. Tvs everywhere you turn your head. We were able to watch the game with ease. Loved the hot wings and the bartender was pleasant.

I love Black Rock. It is one of the few places I have found around town that offer delicious Gluten free items on their menu that not only fit my health needs but taste very very good.

We had dinner here last night! I had the signature dish which was the steak cooked on the stone at 700 degrees. It was delicious!! The creamed spinach was very good and the salad was fresh. The owner explained the best way to utilize the stone to cook the filet the way i liked it and the chef came out and asked how everything was and asked if I needed anything. Great service and great food. I will definitely be back.

I have been to Black rock bar and grill many times and every single time they impress me even more, I had an appetizer and salad and my lover had a steak cooked by the chef. We were hesitant to try cooking on the hot stone because you go to a restaurant to have your food cooked and don’t want nothing to mess it up! We gave it a try and glad we did all I have to say it is yummy! Highly recommended by the waitress to give it a try on the steak and thanks to her everything we are we loved. Thank you very much! I highly recommend this place.

Saw the billboard on U.S. 23 and though i would give it a try. I orderd the steak on the rock and it was amazing. Each a every bite was hot, thank god i don't live far away so i can go in again very soon. The choclate fondue was great as-well.

Very long waits. Service too inexperienced for the personna they project. Actually, I believe steak on a rock is dry and tasteless. First timers, be sure you are aware the steak will not be grilled.

My husband and I went for dinner on May 12, 2012 and when we arrived we were told it would be about a 45 minute wait, which seemed reasonable since we have been there previously and enjoyed the food.
Well as it started going into an hour of waiting the hostess told us it would be another 2 1/2 hours because the patrons who call in a "reservation" come before patrons who are walk-ins so we kept getting pushed down the wait list. My husband and I ended up walking out (we were not the only ones who walked out) and headed to Sparky's in Highland and had a great meal with great service.

We traveled 20 miles to this place.
Wanted to do something special on our 25 anniversary.
Had I read these reviews first, I would have been apprehensive about going.
We could not of had a better experience.
We had fillets of beef and cooked it on the rocks.
Friday evening, the place was packed.
Food and wait staff are great.
We will return again.

Was there last week for lunch with a large group. Had only 1 waitress and it took 1 hour before we got food. I noticed that the prices all went up $1-$2. The person that ordered an appetizer got it after we all were done eating. First they dropped it on the floor of the kitchen then when it did come out it was way overcooked and the scallops on the half shell were the very tiny ones. Not worth $9.99. She did get a free desert for the inconvenience. When a soup is advertised as spicey, it should have some flavor. It's been hit and miss with the soup. Find a recipe that works and stick with it. The veggie soup never tastes the same. Most of the lunch menu is gone. Not happy about that. I think the owner is spending too much of an effort on advertising to get new customers when he should be concentrating on keeping his current customers happy and coming back. The only thing consistent about the food is that it's always inconsistent!!

Good steaks, and the side dishes are ok, but nothing to write home about. Whatever you do, don't show up on a Friday with 3 people in your party, you will get seated behind those who show up in groups of 2 or 4. Arrived @ 7:00 PM and were not seated until 8:15 PM.

Last night was my 2nd trip to Black Rock and it was, again, a wonderful meal. Had the filet and cooked it on the volcanic rock just the way I like it - medium rare. Easy to do and the steak was hot, cooked perfectly and delicious!

Had dinner here last night. Four of us and we all ordered different things. Prices were good and the food was great.... None of us ordered the steak but after seeing it being cooked, I would like to go back and give it a try. Will return again soon.

Ate here for the first time last night March 4th 2011 service was Very slow food was just ok ( Mashed Pot. were cold ) sweet Pot. fries were not fresh and also Cold Onion Soup was AWSOME but was luke Apple Crisp was just offal the worste I have ever ate ! The quality of there meat is a1 quality, but all in all we will not be returning customers...

I have had a great experience, multiple times. The steak on a stone is awesome, and if you haven't tried the french onion soup give it a try (you won't be disappointed). Finally, a restaurant in Hartland that is nice with high-quality food. Love all the TVs as well - great for watching the game and eating great food (good beer selection as well). What more could you want...

I was quite disappointed. The place is very dark and rather cold. The food was ok but very expensive for what you get.

We've been twice now and had totally different results. The first time was an early weekday evening with the kids. Service was slow, food temps were ok (my fries were cold). I left with an overall lackluster feel. The second time was at 9pm on a Saturday night without kids and we loved it! The place was packed, there was a band (really just 3 guys with guitars...), service was excellent and the steak was great. I did not cook it on the stone even though the waiter told me he'd pay for it himself if I didn't like the taste. I assured him I was certain I'd like the taste, but that I wasn't in the mood to pay $20 for a steak I had to cook myself. He didn't push after that! The steak was great - needed some seasoning but they put sea salt and pepper on the table. The atmosphere was enjoyable. I might even try to cook my own steak next time after seeing it on a neighboring table. (It appears all you do is cut your bite, leave it on the stone for 45 seconds then eat it, so you aren't really cooking it whole and timing it and whatnot). We will certainly go back. By the way, the pizza is really good too (our son had that the first time).

What a great experience! We loved the food, atmosphere and service. This is going to be one of our favorite restaurants. We will dine here often.

Yesterday Wed Jan 5th 2011 was my wife's birthday. We have 3 young kids, ages 8, 6, and 4. Finding a restaurant to eat with them can be....challenging at times. We decided to give Black Rock a try.
We had a great experience, service great, food was top notch.
I had Turf&Surf on the stone, my wife had the Salmon. Kids menu offered variety, and the prices very reasonable. This will be our "top notch" go to restaurant for those "Date nights". Highly recommend.
