Hartland Cemetery

Established in 1840, this historic cemetery sits on the north side of the Hartland village area across the street from the Cromaine District Library on the west side of Avon Street. The earliest grave stone is of James Whalen from 1834, who along with 11 others from his family were re-buried here around 1975, accoring to the book "Hartland: Weaving the Past with the Present" by the Hartland Historical Society. There are more than 1,000 grave stones in the cemetery, according to the book. Owned by Hartland Township under the care of the public works department, there currently are no plots available.
