New Women's Group Awards First Charitable Donation

100 Women Who Care About Livingston County awarded their first charity, Mission House of Fowlerville, with $7,800.

On Tuesday night, Karen Ryan was able to present the Fowlerville First United Methodist Church Mission House with a check for $7,800 as part of the first ever donation from the new women's group 100 Women Who Care About Livingston County. 100 Women Who Care is a new group of women who have come together to increase their impact among local charities by donating together. The group meets four times a year, where three charities are chosen. The women vote on the charity then each write a $100 check to the winner. Mission House was voted the winner over LACASA and The Make-a-Wish Foundation during the group's first meeting on May 8. Mission House is open to anyone suffering from alcoholism or drug addiction to help those people stay sober and…

New Women's Group Forming to Impact Local Charities in a Big Way

100 Women Who Care about Livingston County held an informational meeting Tuesday night.

According to Candye Hinton, 100 women can raise $10,000 in one hour. That's the premise behind 100 Women Who Care About Livingston County - a new women's group dedicated to supporting local nonprofit organziations by combining donations to increase the impact. 100 Women Who Care was started in Jackson, Michigan, as a way to streamline the fundraising process for local charities and nonprofits. There are now chapters all over the country. "I'm just basically importing it into Livingston County," Hinton said. "We are one of the most organized counties for nonproftis and volunteers and things like that. It just seemed to me the perfect fit, being able to streamline how they get the money.
