Finally, the NCAA Final Four is here. The March Madness 2013 Final Four television schedule begins Saturday with a television schedule that includes Louisville vs. Wichita State followed by Michigan vs. Syracuse. The Vegas lines on the Final Four give Louisville a 9.5-point edge and favor Michigan by 2. By Kimberly Rinna Hartland's fifth grade travel basketball team took first place in Midland's H.H Dow High School Basketball Tournament on Saturday, February 16. The team played three games on Saturday against teams from Flint and the surrounding areas. The team won all three of their games to take first place in the tournament. Tournament scores: The fifth grade travel basketball team is coached by Jim Gualtieri and Todd Ekonen. Players include: Congratulation to the 5th grade travel basketball team for their first place finish.

Hartland boosters hope to raise enough money Sunday to buy matching pairs.
Basketball is a game where players and coaches look for a mismatch on the court, but the Hartland High School boys basketball program has been facing one of the fashion variety: The freshman Eagles have been playing with different types of shorts. "We do with what we have," said Frank Leppek, coach of the varsity team. "Some were yellow and some were blue and white." Faced with 12-year-old uniforms, the 14 players are forced to area stores to buy replacements from local retailers as they wear out or get lost, Leppek said. One parent says it's been a problem for at least two seasons. Kendra Faustin's Purple Eagles play in Ypsilanti versus Eastern Michigan University on Tuesday.
Off to a 1-9 start a season after winning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference coach of the year award at Niagara University in New York, Hartland area native Kendra Faustin knows the highs and lows of being a head coach in Division I women's basketball. And it's the memories from home — especially a picture she came across when she was at her parents' house while recruiting in Michigan — that Faustin calls on now to pull through such times. "They told me they had a bunch of things that either I take or they were going to throw away," Faustin said. "I found a photo of me coaching HAYAA (Hartland Area Youth Athletic Association) basketball, so I pulled it out and put it in my office because right now, we're struggling a bit as a program. …
