Hartland High School Drama Club follows author's advice to broaden appeal of story.
"A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children's story in the slightest." - C.S. Hartland High School features 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' this weekend.
The make-believe land of Narnia won't be quite as far, far away this weekend when the Hartland High School Drama Club takes its roles as the woodland creatures of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The stage version of C.S. Lewis' classic novel will be performed at the Hartland High School theater, opening 7:30 p.m. Friday with shows following at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Student and senior tickets are $9; adult tickets are $11. This is the drama club's first production of the school year and director Brian Richardson's first year of solo directing and everyone is eager to go. "The biggest challenge is keeping the kids quiet because they're so excited for this weekend," Richardson said. "It's not even a high school level …

My daughter and I were there Friday night as well. Our favorite part was when one of the little mice lost her ears and announced "my ears, my ears. Mom my ears!!". The only thing was my daughter had worked on the table in set crew and felt most people missed it when the table broke and he came back to life. It was ok though because the little mouse was so cute!!! We had a really great time. …   more ›
