Winners were announced on Saturday for the first annual Heritage Day photo contest. Categories included Hartland related, nature, animals and people. Heritage Day activities took place in the village of Hartland in Saturday. The day will filled with family-friendly events such as a barn raising, petting zoo, hay rides through the village, musical performances and more. Winners were also announced in the scarecrow contest which were displayed the past week leading up to Heritage Day. Winers include: In an email to Hartland Patch, Cromaine director Ceci Marlow said that the library would like to thank all the businesses who put up scarecrows and to those who took the time to vote. Certificates and a coupon for a free pizza from Little Caesar's will be distributed to the winners. They will be held at the Cromaine Library in the Village circulation desk in the patron pick-up folder. Share …

Welcome to the 11th annual Hartland Heritage Day. First organized by then village area resident Ginny Smoot, the event started as a pot luck for residents but has grown substantially ever since to honor the area's history, according to the Hartland Area Community Council. There will be pets, scarecrows and performances. Take a Historic Village Hayride Tour or look for some new events that include an old-fashioned barn raising and a Daschund Dash. There will be old-fashioned games, arts and crafts … and buy a bag of books. And don't forget to listen for announcements of winners for the Heritage Day Scarecrow contest and Hartland Photo Contest. The final time to vote for the People's Choice photograph is Friday at 4 p.m. at Cromaine Library…

Hartland businesses need your votes in deciding who has the best scarecrow this year.
You may have seen some of them already – the spiderman scarecrow dangling in front of the Hartland Fire Department or the crow-themed scarecrow, courtesy of the Audubon Society, in front of Tyme Well Spent, decorating the village of Hartland. And so it begins. The local businesses and organizations participating in the Second Annual Hartland Heritage Day scarecrow contest need your votes. With three categories to choose from, the community will decide which scarecrow was the most impressive or entertaining this year. Judging has been completed on various categories for the first annual Hartland Heritage Day photo contest. More than 20 photos were submitted and are currently on display in the children's section of the Cromaine Library, village location. "People are now asked to vote on their favorite, which may or may not be one of the judge's winners," Barb Krueger, an organizer of Heritage Day said in an email to Hartland Patch. Ballots and a ballot bag are available and all votes must be submitted before 5 p.m. on Sept. 21. The winning photo for the People's Choice award will have a ribbon and announcement in place on Heritage Day which takes place Sept. 22 in the village of Hartland.

Hartland Heritage Day is scheduled for Saturday September 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., up and down Avon Road in the village area. The Hartland Area Community Council is announcing a Heritage Day photo contest; entries will be displayed at Cromaine Library during September. Winning photos will appear on the Community Council website. The contest is open to students and residents of the Hartland Consolidated School District. All information regarding recent updates, a booth entry form for community organizations and an entry form for the photo contest can be found on the Community Council's website.
