Sean Pengelly signed his letter of intent for Michigan Tech on Wednesday.
After changing his attitude, Hartland High School senior Sean Pengelly says he “decided” to be better after being one of the slowest runners in middle school. “I just kept working at it,” Pengelly said. “I was sick of being slow and I just worked at it more.” On Wednesday, Pengelly proved what hard work and a positive attitude could accomplish as he officially signed his letter of intent to run cross county for Michigan Tech. “I didn’t really think about running in college until the beginning of my junior year,” he said. “I really like the team aspect of it.” Hartland’s cross country coach, Matt Gutteridge says Pengelly’s chosen school will be a “right fit” for the young runner. “I am very proud of Sean and excited for him,” Gutteridge …

Hartland senior Samantha Dibert has committed to Lourdes University for volleyball.
With her family and friends as witnesses and unable to contain her big grin, Hartland High School senior Samantha Dibert signed her Letter of Intent on Tuesday afternoon. The volleyball player has committed to play for Lourdes University in Ohio, a school that appealed to the Hartland senior because of its size and academic offerings. “They’re like their own little community,” Dibert said. “And I just wanted to know everybody and I didn’t want a big, huge school.” Recommended by her high school coach, Lourdes University volleyball coach Greg Reitz said it is Dibert’s athletic ability that makes her so appealing as a new addition to his team. “She can jump well and she has the potential to get better on some of the skills she hasn’t used as…

Lynsie Giroux signs Letter of Intent for Bethel College.
Surrounded by her future teammates, Hartland senior Lynsie Giroux signed her letter of intent to play volleyball at Bethel College after high school. The smaller campus size of Bethel College, which is located in Indiana, was something Giroux said she was looking for when choosing her future school. But it was the coach and players, according to Giroux, who made her feel at home that helped make Giroux’s decision to become a future Pilot. “They treated me like I was already part of the team, which was great,” Giroux said.
