It's the end of an era this week for Twihards around the world. Breaking Dawn - Part 2, the final installment of the Twilight Saga, premiers this week in theaters across the country, and Ankeny is no exception. Breaking Dawn - Part 2: Trailer. (Strong language, subject material.) The vampire- and werewolf-packed finale starts Thursday at MJR Towne Square Cinema in Brighton with showtimes at 10 p.m. and 12:01 a.m. early Friday morning. Tickets to both showtimes can be purchased on the MJR website by choosing Thursday on the drop-down movie showtimes menu. MJR Theaters Respond to National Popcorn Shortage

Popcorn prices are rising in retail and wholesale markets.

Severe drought conditions in the Midwest will soon hit Americans where it hurts the most - their snack foods. WDIV Channel 4 reported that triple digit temperatures and weeks without rain have withered soybean, grain and popcorn crops and scarcity has caused retail and wholesale prices to jump. Mike Mihalich, owner of Brighton MJR Towne Square Theater, said he is not yet sure if the shortage will increase the cost of popcorn in MJR Theaters. "The cost is going to go up, just like anything else," he said about popcorn. "If there's a fire in a refinery and oil becomes a little more scarce, they raise the prices. We'll have plenty of popcorn. We'll just have to pay more for it." Mihalich said his company pays farmers a premium in advance to …

Going to the movie is already outrageously priced, then if you get popcorn and soda, you have dropped a big bill for the night. The cost of a movie ticket has skyrocketted and the snacks are priced ridiculous too. How do we expect teenage kids to afford a movie and popcorn?
