Hartland School Board Approves New Location for Solar Panel Farm

Plans for a solar farm to be built on land behind the high school will be presented to the Hartland Township Board of Trustees for approval.

On Monday, the Hartland Consolidated Schools Board of Education approved a motion for a new site location of a proposed solar farm located on the campus of Hartland High School. The new proposed site for the approximately two-acre installation would be located directly behind the high school building in a “lagoon” area, which was formerly used for the school’s sanitation system. In November, the school board had originally approved a site location that would have put the solar farm on the corner of Hartland and Dunham Roads. In an informal meeting with Hartland Township later that month however, concerns over the visibility factor with the original location spurred officials with Hartland Schools and DTE to seek an alternative location. …
