MDOT Hosts Public Meeting for Brighton Township Interchange Improvements
New lanes and bridges are proposed for the I-96/US-23 interchange in Brighton Township.
Two informational meetings will be held on May 17 at Brighton Township Hall to discuss proposed improvements to the I-96/US-23 interchange. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has proposed constructing six new through-lanes on I-96 between the current eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway, along with building three new bridges over northbound and southbound US-23, and over Old US-23. The existing lanes of I-96 will become collector/distributor (CD) lanes as a way to help ramp traffic move smoothly through the interchange.
